Our Veterans are Dying Due to Delayed Care

FoxNews reports that Senators are calling for a probe into VA hospital deaths allegedly tied to delayed care.  This is inexcusable! Where is the media outrage, that’s rhetorical because we all know there won’t be any! While it’s commendable the Senators are demanding an investigation, why did it take the deaths of our Veterans and five months.

McCain also wrote to Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki, citing a report in the Arizona Republic on whistle-blower allegations about veteran deaths and accusations about VA administrators keeping secret waiting lists.

“I am appalled by the number of veterans who stated to my office that the VA was just “waiting” or ‘hoping’ that they would die and be one less burden on the system,” McCain wrote. “These increasing individual delays clearly illustrate systemic problems with how effectively the VA is providing care to our veterans.”

CNN had reported earlier this year that 10 veterans are confirmed to have died in the South Carolina and Georgia regions alone. Documentation also revealed that 29 vets or their families were sent the disclosures notifying them they had serious “adverse events” because of delayed care. The report also revealed that the problems go far beyond Georgia and South Carolina.
