Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday threatened to pull funding from cities that refuse to cooperate with the federal government in enforcing U.S. immigration law.
Sessions urged so-called “sanctuary cities” – which refuse to notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when they have illegal immigrants in custody – to comply with federal law.
On “Fox & Friends” this morning, an “Angel Mom” had some strong words for sanctuary city advocates, Fox News reports.
Mary Ann Mendoza, whose police officer son was killed by a drunk-driving illegal immigrant in 2014, said she is “sickened” that the elected officials in sanctuary cities have more interest in protecting criminal illegal aliens than American citizens.
“It’s almost like a war is being brought against Americans by these very elected officials,” Mendoza said. “Where is this country going?”
She said these sanctuary policies are a “slap in the face” to American citizens, particularly people who came to the country as legal immigrants.
“These are illegal aliens who have invaded our country,” Mendoza said, noting that the statistics show a disturbing trend of illegal immigrant crime.
“This is why I support Trump,” Mendoza said. “We have to defund sanctuary cities. We have to secure our border.
