Bernie Sanders Buys $600K Vermont Lake House… Right After Endorsing Hillary

Former Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, fresh off his bid for the presidential nomination, has bought a summer home in Vermont for nearly $600,000, according to a local newspaper.

Seven Days Vermont reported that the Champlain Islands lakefront property has four bedrooms and 500 feet of Lake Champlain beachfront.

According to Fox Insider, Sanders also owns a home in Burlington and another property in Washington, D.C.

Sanders’ wife confirmed the purchase in a statement to the paper:

“We’ve traveled up to the islands many times over the years — almost always on day trips,” Sanders’ wife, Jane O’Meara Sanders, told Seven Days in a written statement. “We’ve been impressed with the North Hero community, eaten at the North Hero House and Shore Acres and have suggested them to friends who were looking for a beautiful place to stay or have dinner. St. Anne’s Shrine in Isle La Motte is my favorite church and it is nearby.”

The socialist Sanders gave Hillary Clinton a run for her money in the Democratic race, railing against Wall Street and income inequality.

Some of Sanders’ supporters were less than pleased with his new purchase, while others argued the irony.
