Planned Parenthood has been in the spotlight due to the scandalous videos released by the Center for Medical Progress which shows that PP has been selling aborted baby parts for profit.
The manner in which PP senior level employees casually discussed the process of aborting the baby to ensure the child is intact was morbid and unsettling, upsetting even those who are pro-choice.
Trey Gowdy agrees, and expressed his disgust and announced that he is calling for the immediate defunding of the government subsidized abortion clinic saying the organization works to “prop up the abortion industry” through the sale of fetal body parts.
“The people I work for do not want to fund that,” Gowdy told Shannon Bream on Fox News. “People can disagree about a woman’s right to choose and Roe vs. Wade, but this is barbaric, depraved.”
“I didn’t think Planned Parenthood was necessary after Obamacare,” Gowdy pointed out. “I thought it provided healthcare and access to everyone.”
Gowdy is correct, Obamacare does cover abortions, and birth control, they also cover mammograms which Planned Parenthood does not offer, so why are they receiving $528 million of taxpayer money?
“Why do we need Planned Parenthood to prop up the abortion industry? I’m not going to fund it.”
Gowdy, who chairs the special House committee investigating the 2012 Benghazi attacks that killed four Americans, was among 18 Republicans from the chamber who signed a letter Wednesday vowing to strip Planned Parenthood of its $528 million in public funding — even if it leads to a federal government shutdown. He said he expects Obama to veto any legislation sent to him that would defund Planned Parenthood saying, “The president loves to talk about bipartisanship, working together, so long as you do everything he wants you to do”
In closing, Gowdy said, “I’m not going to give taxpayer money to an entity that discusses the best way to sell body parts and whether or not you can perform procedures after a delivery and sell those parts in interstate commerce,” he added. “I’m not going to fund it.”
