Obama has “a lot to explain” about his role in the 2016 presidential election, and he “needs to do it under oath.”
Jay Sekulov, President Donald Trump’s attorney, railed against what he calls “the so-called Russian probe,” and demanded to know why there is no special counsel investigating former President Barack Obama actions over Russia.
Sekulow said that “witch hunt” might even be a tame term to describe the Russia investigation, “I’m not sure that’s fair to witch hunts” Sekulow remarked.
President Trump said that the fake news Russia collusion claims are what Democrats have been using to distract the American people from his agenda.
Sekulow said that the Obama administration has “a lot to explain” about its role in the 2016 presidential election, and they “need to do it under oath.”
He also pointed out that Obama ignored intelligence information about Russia’s attempt to interfere in our election because he thought Hillary Clinton would be the next president.
In this press conference at the White House, Obama told then candidate Donald Trump to “stop whining’ because there was no way that Russia could hack our elections… Hillary Clinton has done nothing except whine since she lost.
The Department of Homeland Security said in October Russia had not been successful at interfering in the election. Sekulow had a few demands of the former president and his staff.
He said that Obama should issue an apology to President Trump and the American people. He also called for both Obama and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch to testify before Congress under oath about their involvement with the 2016 election.
“We know the administration previously had all the information and did nothing about it,” Sekulow said.
President Trump’s campaign is currently under investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller for allegations of collusion with Russia to influence the outcome of the election. So far no evidence has surfaced to corroborate the accusations.
“Why don’t we have a Special Counsel reviewing why President Obama did nothing…?” Sekulow asked.
He stated his client and the American public are owed an apology for the “witch hunt” that is happening.
