Mainstream Media Encourages Democrats to Impeach Kavanaugh (Video)

The question of the day, ‘Would you support a House investigation at the start for an impeachment vote into Justice Kavanaugh?’

Even before President Trump announced Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s name as his nominee to be the next Supreme Court Justice the Democrats were saying they would not vote for him, and in the ensuing weeks that led up to the nomination process they were saying that he was not qualified.

During Kavanaugh’s nomination process the depths to which the Democrats would go to not only keep him off the bench, but to destroy his life was laid bare for all to see – and it was a spectacle the likes of which no one has ever seen.

When it appeared all-but-certain that Kavanaugh would be sworn in, the mainstream media wasted no time in pivoting: With Kavanaugh confirmed, the last remaining option is … impeachment.

Over the intervening days, Democrats who’ve been interviewed on the mainstream media news outlets are now asked as a matter of course: If your party retakes Congress, can we expect Kavanaugh impeachment proceedings soon thereafter?

MSNBC’s Alex Witt, interviewing Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.), asked if Democrats will “protect the rule of law” and seek impeachment proceedings against Kavanaugh. “Do you think it is a good move for Democrats — politically, strategically, ethically, morally —  to pursue, potentially, an investigation that could lead to impeachment?” she asked.

Witt asked Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.): “Would you support a House investigation at the start for an impeachment vote into Justice Kavanaugh?”

CNN’s Symone Sanders said that Democrats could impeach Kavanaugh for being untruthful about his high school sexual experience. “I’d like to remind everybody,” she said, “Bill Clinton got impeached when lying about a blow job!”

MSNBC’s Katy Tur, interviewing a California congressional candidate, Ammar Campa-Najjar, asked: “There is talk about the ‘I’ word, impeachment, when it comes not just the President any longer, but now Brett Kavanaugh. Is that something that you would support if you were elected to the Congress?”

ABC’s Jon Karl asked Sen. Hirono, hopefully, if she “won’t rule out” trying to impeach Kavanaugh.

After Hillary Clinton declined to endorse the impeach-Kavanaugh strategy, CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin exploded, calling Democrats “pathetic.”

“Democrats are pathetic,” Toobin said. “They are afraid of everything. It’s like, ‘Oh, we can’t have Hillary Clinton talk because it will motive the Republican base. We can’t have Barack Obama talk because it will motive their base. We can’t talk about impeachment or it will motive their base.’”

In another segment, MSNBC’s Tur suggested that calling for Kavanaugh’s impeachment could be a motivating factor for Democratic voters in November.

“Do you think that running on this idea that Democrats are — Democrats intend to impeach Judge Kavanaugh is the way to keep the enthusiasm about this nomination in play for the next 29 days?” she asked.

For his part, Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J) is on board. He told Newsweek Magazine that Democrats could impeach Kavanaugh if they retake Congress.

Of course, even if Democrats take Congress, impeaching Justice Kavanaugh is far beyond unlikely. Doing so would require 67 votes in the Senate, and currently Democrats have 47. Presuming no Republicans vote to impeach Justice Kavanaugh, Democrats would need to win at least an additional 18 seats in November, and current projections show them picking up -2 to +2.

The only thing their ‘impeach Kavanaugh’ campaign would accomplish doing is keeping their hordes of protesters fired up as an ongoing distraction to President Trump’s accomplishments. And whether they win the House and Senate or not, that is of course their plan.
