Details are limited, but a man is accused of shooting at a Grand Rapids Police officer overnight Monday, Fox 17 reports.
GRPD used Twitter to inform the public that a man had threatened people at the Centrepointe Mall location of Planet Fitness at 3681 28th Street SE.
They said he had shot at police but had been arrested. GRPD have identified the suspect as an employee of the FBI and he is 35 years old.
GRPD later said the incident occurred around 1:18 a.m. when officers were called to the fitness center on reports of a man brandishing a gun inside. When a GRPD sergeant tried to contact the man, the man fired at him. The suspect was apprehended at gunpoint by officers in the parking lot.
Officers did not fire, and no one was injured in the incident.
