Pelosi: ‘The Impression You Get Is That The President Would Like To Abolish Congress’ (Video)

Nancy Pelosi made a bold statement saying that President Trump wants to abolish Congress.

“CBS Sunday Morning,” host Jane Pauley  interviewed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and discussed her recent meeting at the White House with President Trump to discuss border security and the government shut-down.

Pauley asked Pelosi, “Are you recalibrating your assessment of how you can work with this president?”

Pelosi responded, “Let me first say that our purpose in the meeting at the White House was to open up government. The impression you get from the president is that he would like not only close government, build a wall, but also abolish Congress, so the only voice that mattered was his own.”

About Trump’s claim that the government shutdown could last “months or even years”, Pauley asked: “Was that bluster or hyperbole?”

“Well, I hope so,” Pelosi said. “But the fact is he has said it again and again.”

What is clear is that the Democrats refuse to discuss the dangers of our borders not being secure. What is equally clear is that the Democrats will not allow President Trump to build the wall, a fence or even a barricade out of sticks. They will not allow him to secure the border because they view that as a promise he made to his base. Without the wall, they feel confident he will lose in 2020. What they are not counting on is the backlash of his base knowing that it was them that kept the borders open, and not President Trump.
