Sheila Jackson Lee: Reparations For Enslaved People, Slaves is Long Overdue (Video)

The only people who owe African American decedents of slavery reparations are the Democrats.

The subject of reparations for African Americans whose ancestors were enslaved is a hot topic going into the 2020 presidential campaign. There are repercussions for Democrat candidates who support it, and those who don’t, seems that either way, they will be condemned by people who agree, and those who disagree with the prospect.

The argument from some is why should people today, who were not slave owners, nor responsible for what took place in history be held accountable. And then the issue comes down to what type of reparations should be paid, and how to identify those who are eligible.

There are some who believe that Democrat presidential hopefuls decision to support this going into the 2020 election is to secure black Americans votes. Since President Trump took office, the historic black unemployment rate is the lowest it has been since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began reporting it in 1972. Naturally, many African Americans are impressed that Trump has accomplished what other presidents have promised, but have not produced, and the Democrats are afraid of losing their votes.

Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee (D-TX) joined Joy Reid on MSNBC to participate in a segment that discussed reparations for the enslavement of those of African descent in America.

Jackson Lee spoke about legislation H.R. 40, which would create a commission to study reparations, and long-time participant in the legitimate movement for reparations, saying it is a “long overdue” discussion about the topic.

“They understand it is long overdue for a national dialogue dealing with Africans, African-Americans as slaves,” she said. “This was an institutionalized and condoned action by the government from 1619 to 1865. De jure and de facto acts have shown the impact on African-Americans.”

What the Democrats do not want to discuss is their role in slavery.

The Inconvenient Truth About the Democratic Party

Did you know that the Democratic Party defended slavery, started the Civil War, founded the KKK, and fought against every major civil rights act in U.S. history?

Watch as Carol Swain, professor of political science at Vanderbilt University, shares the inconvenient history of the Democratic Party.

If the Democrats wanted to do right by African Americans they would start by telling them the truth, and apologizing for the wrongs they committed, and continue to commit by lying about the role they played.

What is most disturbing is that African Americans like Sheila Jackson Lee know the truth about the Democrats history, but she continues to lie about it. They call Republicans racist, and claim that they discriminate against blacks, when in fact, to this day, it is the Democrats who are keeping them in a minority state, and in self imposed slavery.

The only people who owe African American decedents of slavery reparations are the Democrats.
