Washington Post Cartoon Mocks Ted Cruz’s CHILDREN… Media Backlash (Video)

The political arena can be a hostile environment especially during a presidential election but there are certain topics that are off limits, the Washington Post crossed that line with a cartoon depicting Ted Cruz’s children in a derogatory manner.

Often dirt on each candidate is spread across social media by the supporters of each candidate, as well as mainstream media and newspapers. Some of the cartoons the newspapers have published in the past have been quite entertaining.

With that being said, a recent cartoon that appeared in the Washington Post crossed the line. This isn’t an attack on a politician. This is an attack on innocent children and shows that they have no morals. On the other hand, what else can we expect from a liberal based ‘news’ outlet?

Ann Telnaes / Washington Post

Breitbart reports:

The Post cartoonist, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Ann Telnaes, drew up a Christmas-themed cartoon where the senator’s 5 and 7 year-old daughters are portrayed as monkeys on a leash. Meanwhile, Cruz himself is portrayed wearing a Santa Claus suit holding a crank music box to which the girls’ leashes are attached. Cruz’s wife and the girls’ mother, Heidi, is not in the cartoon.

Telnaes–who won the Pulitzer Prize drawing cartoons mocking Republicans during the 2000 presidential election recount controversy–wrote a lengthy diatribe attempting to explain why she abandoned journalistic norms to attack Caroline, 7, and Catherine, 5.

“There is an unspoken rule in editorial cartooning that a politician’s children are off-limits,” Telnaes admits. “People don’t get to choose their family members so obviously it’s unfair to ridicule kids for their parent’s behavior while in office or on the campaign trail- besides, they’re children. There are plenty of adults in the political world who act childish, so there is no need for an editorial cartoonist to target actual children.”

At that point, she tried explaining why she was breaking the rules. Her argument centers around the belief that Cruz–the senator and candidate–includes his daughters on the campaign trail and in some videos from his campaign.

In typical Cruz fashion he responded with the class and dignity that the American people have come to expect. Here’s his tweet.

UPDATE 9:00 PM ET: The Washington Post has officially yanked the cartoon down, un-publishing it late Tuesday evening after this Breitbart News story.

After pulling the cartoon down, the post issued this statement from editor Fred Hiatt: “It’s generally been the policy of our editorial section to leave children out of it. I failed to look at this cartoon before it was published. I understand why Ann thought an exception to the policy was warranted in this case, but I do not agree.”

Americas Freedom Fighters added that once again, were it not for double-standards, liberals would have no standards at all. This Ann Telnaes person is an exceptionally disgusting example of a Godless ideology. Even though the paper pulled the cartoon, one has to ask the question, what would bring a woman to attack children in order to hurt a public figure? One can only pray she doesn’t choose to use her womb.

Ted Cruz scares the left as much as anyone. He is unflappable and willing to battle in the arena of ideas at any time and he almost always wins. They know they can’t beat him so they stoop to this- typical liberalism.

Can you imagine if this was Obama, Shasha, and Mailia on leashes portrayed as monkeys. Ann Telnaes would have been crucified. It would have been the end of her career. Instead the editor says he can see how Ann would think they could make an exception for Cruz’s children. Are you kidding me?

This really shows the sickness of the liberal mindset. It also shows why America needs to wake up. We can’t take another scumbag like Clinton or Sanders in the Oval Office come 2016.

  1. Cruz is not [L SHAPED LANDMASS] enough for the cartoon to trigger the necessary offense. Perhaps that can be fixed by putting Elian Gonzalez faces on the non human primate figures.

Where is the NAAAAP on this? [Crickets frogs katydids, etc.]
