While at a rest stop outside Richmond, Va., veteran truck driver Kevin Kimmel caught a glimpse of a distraught young girl in the back of a recreational vehicle.
Kimmel said several things about the RV parked in the Pilot Truck lot in New Kent caught his attention. The biggest red flag was the glimpse of a distraught young girl who peeked out from behind the black curtained window and then abruptly disappeared. Kimmel became suspicious and called the police.
Kevin Kimmel told Richmond CBS affiliate WTVR:
“I Saw what looked like a young girl looking out the window, the black drapes didn’t make it look like a families’ RV, you know,” Kimmel said. “I saw a guy come up and knock on the door then go inside the Pilot–then quickly came back and knocked again, all of the sudden the thing was rocking and rolling.”
Aldair Hodza and Laura Evelene Sorensen, both of Clive, Iowa, are charged with one count of abduction with the intent to defile
Inside the RV, investigators found a couple from Iowa and a young woman who looks disheveled and malnourished.
The affidavit reported that the girl’s feet had been punctured from nails being hammered into her, and that she had severe burns from having a hot key pressed into her flesh. Apparently, the key was how the traffickers branded the girl.
When investigators questioned the victim alone, she told them that the couple had been sexually and physically abusing her. The victim, also from Iowa, described to police how the suspects branded her on her back, burned her in other locations, and cut her feet.
And, she was forced to perform a sex act on Hodza and another man, which was set up through a Craigslist ad at that gas station.
Kevin Kimmel is a hero for saving that young girls life.
