What’s the name of the guy who complained to Donald Trump about Muslim’s, and said Barack Obama was not an American? Seriously. What’s his name?
No one seems to be asking who he was. He seemed odd, and his question out of context.
On Thursday, Donald Trump was doing a town hall in New Hampshire when a man stood up and said, “We have a problem in this country, it’s called Muslims. We know our current president is one, you know he’s not even an American.” Trump let the comment slide.
Some people are speculating that the guy was a plant. I don’t know if he was or not. Nobody does. That’s the point. Nobody even knows his name, and nobody’s asking. We’re now half a week into this “scandal,” and all these smart, dedicated journalists aren’t the least bit curious about the identity of this (allegedly) bigoted (alleged) Trump supporter. Y’know, the one they can’t stop talking about.
He wasn’t wearing a mask. He didn’t hide his face from the cameras. Why don’t we know his name?
Just kidding. Come on, guys, it’s not like he’s an Ohio plumber who embarrassed Obama. We needed to know every detail of that guy’s life, pronto. But this guy? Not so much. The identity of someone who causes problems for a political candidate isn’t quite so important when it’s a Republican.
Whether he’s a plant or a prankster or a genuine Islamophobe, the Unknown Bigot has served his purpose. We don’t need to know anything more about him.
To our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters in the media: Keep talking about what this guy said, without even trying to find out his name. Keep showing us why your ratings and circulation numbers are in freefall. You’re the only people in America right now who disgust me more than stupid Donald Trump
