University Study Says Racism Is To Blame For Black Women Having The Highest Obesity Rates?

The study, by Slone Epidemiology Centre at Boston University, found the relationship between racism and obesity was strongest among women who reported consistently high experience of racism over a 12 year period. The research was based on the Black Women’s Health Study, which enrolled 59,000 African-American women in 1995 and has followed them since.

While rates of obesity in the U.S. have risen rapidly over the past few decades, the greatest increases have been seen in African American women, half of whom are currently classified as obese.

There is nothing I can say that will not be construed as racist. However, might I suggest eating healthier and exercise… just a thought.

  1. Racism is black people blaming All their problems on white people. For example slavery, but truth is the first slaves were WHITE. So get off the welfare, show a little respect and just maybe your kids would too. Quit blaming everybody else for your self-made problems.

  2. I lived in Mississippi for a long time, and I’ve seen hundreds of big black women lined up in the check out line at Piggly Wiggly, with grocery carts packed full of ribs, pork chops and friend chicken, hundreds of dollars worth of food. Then go into 10 gallon size fake Gucci purse and pull out hundreds of dollars worth of food stamps, all the while talking to her ” ball headed auntie”, on her new iPhone, about what Oprah was wearing that day, or what Whoopie said on ” The View.” It doesn’t take a 15 year university study to figure that one. Then drive her new Escalade, with the 32″ spinning rims, over to the gas pump and fill it up with her EBT card. Maybe Moochelle Obama needs to get the regulations tightened up on the purchases of fatty foods and EBT cards regulated for food only. Make them eat what the kids are ( supposed to be) eating in school lunch rooms.

  3. well I have not done a study but I am sure more than half of those fat women are on some form of welfare and food stamps and do nothing but eat and make babys so that would just about cover the reason they are fat and nasty.

  4. Right, and again white people are responsible for all your problem’s God forbid that you have anything in how your life has gone. I was always raised to believe that my future was up to me to make of my life what I wanted it to be, I wish someone would explain to me why black parents don’t give that gift to their children. I believe this is a form of abuse on the part of black parents.

  5. “…obesity was strongest among women who reported consistently high experience of racism over a 12 year period.”

I think they’ve made the wrong correlation. My guess is that the fatter they are the more likely they are to blame racism for all their life’s woes.
